EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK - LEVEL 2

This course is designed to cater for basic first aid incidents in smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks. This is a one day (6 hour) course which equips candidates with the knowledge and skills to manage an incident until professional help arrives.

This course fulfils the requirement of The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Who should attend?

​

This course is for individuals intending to fulfil the post of Emergency First Aider @ Work (EFA@W).

Each candidate receives a comprehensive training pack including a current First Aid manual, resuscitation face shield, stationery and first aid training equipment for use during the course.

What you will learn

​

The course will give you the knowledge and confidence to deal with a range of basic Emergency First Aid incidents in the workplace. Candidates will gain the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries and illness and deliver care and comfort to the casualty.

Course content

​

  • Assessing the situation

  • Adult resuscitation

  • Causes of unconsciousness (including common medical conditions)

  • Care of the unconscious casualty

  • Heart attacks and angina

  • Choking

  • Wounds and the management of bleeding

  • Treatment of shock

  • Treatment of burns and scalds

Assessment and certification

​

The assessment is in the form of tutor observation, a series of practical assessments and a short multiple choice question paper. Certificates are awarded to successful candidates and will be valid for a further 3 years
