FIRST AID AT WORK - LEVEL 3

Course Timings: 09:00-16:00 each day.

This 3 day course covers everything needed by a Designated First Aider in the workplace. The course is a happy balance of theory and practice, giving you the skill, confidence and knowledge to deal with range of first aid incidents in a safe and professional manner

Who should attend?

​

Any individual required to fulfil the post of Designated First Aider at Work, or those wanting a comprehensive introduction to First Aid.

What you will learn

​

The course will give you the knowledge and confidence to deal with a range of first aid incidents in the workplace. Delegates will gain the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries and illness and deliver care and comfort to the casualty.

  • Responsibilities of the First Aider

  • Contents of first aid boxes and their use

  • Action in an Emergency

  • Primary Survey

  • Secondary Assessment

  • Breathing and Circulation

  • Principles of Resuscitation inc CPR for Adults, Children and Babies

  • Choking

  • Disorders of the Circulation inc shock and heart attack

  • Wounds and Bleeding

  • Bites and Stings

  • Management of the unconscious casualty

  • Burns and Scalds

  • Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Effects of Heat and Cold

  • Simple record keeping

  • Personal hygiene in treating wounds

  • Communication and delegation in an emergency

 

Course Duration

​

The course comprises a minimum of 18hrs tuition usually delivered over three consecutive days however; alternatively, we offer a 4 day package and we can also tailor courses to meet your specific requirements.

​

Assessment and certification

​

Assessment is in the form of tutor observation, a practical assessment on CPR, recovery position and the treatment of wounds and fractures.

​

Upon successful completion of the course, first aiders are awarded with certification, valid for three years after which re-qualification is necessary. 

​

Each delegate receives a full training pack including up to date text book, resuscitation face shield, stationery and first aid training equipment for use during the course.
